Page 3 - Fairies & Superheroes 2 hour
P. 3
All:
Starlight starbright,
First star I see tonight.
Wish I may, wish I might, Have this wish I wish tonight.
You: Birthday girl/boy, (insert Child’s Name) what’s your wish? (to the birthday boy/girl the first time, you may need to give some suggestions)
Child: I wish for a magic wand. (the child invents their own wish)
You: (spoken) Now, let’s all say “One, two, three abracadabra”!
All (spoken): One, two three, abracadabra! (the children wave their imaginary wands)
Repeat several times as above, except for at the end of each verse when you ask the children to put their hand up if they would like to make a wish. You then sing “Hello, what’s your wish?” to a child that has their hand up. If you have more than ten children, you could try asking a few children at a time (at the end of each verse before saying “one, two, three abracadabra”) to speed up the activity. If you have more than 20 children you can ask everyone that hasn’t had a turn to shout their wish out at once.
6. CHOREOGRAPHED DANCE ONE: ‘Strong and Brave’ performed by Hi-5
Click on song name to open the video in YouTube.
“Real fairies and superheroes must be very strong and brave so now I’m going to teach you a dance that will make you strong and brave, just like me!” Go through the tricky moves first then play the track and perform the dance as in the video.
7. PARACHUTE ACTIVITY WITH TOY/S ON TOP: ‘You Will See Her Fly’ by Lucy Milan Davis (sung to the traditional tune of ‘Pop Goes the Weasel’)
“Let’s see who’s hiding in my sparkly magic bag.” Reveal soft fairy toy. “Can anyone tell me why she has wings? Let’s see if we can use the parachute to make her fly. But first we must practice with the imaginary one.” Sing the song and perform the actions described below with the imaginary parachute. Sing the song and perform the actions with the real parachute. Place the fairy toy on top and perform the actions as you sing the song. Repeat several times.
The fairy is so very small, (holding the parachute and walking around in a circle)
She’s quiet and she’s shy. (as above)
But if you stand very still, (still and singing quietly)
You will see her fly! (sing loudly and lift the parachute up high, flinging the toy into the air)
“The fairy is feeling very lonely. I know someone else who flies that can join her.” Reveal soft Superman toy from your sparkly magic bag. “Who’s this?” Place the Superman toy on top of the parachute so there are now two toys and repeat. Tell the children that your fairy is still lonely and then place another 8 soft toys and/or finger puppets on top of the parachute (so there are 10 all together) and repeat two more times.
8. MUSICAL STATUES: ‘Shake It Off’ performed by Taylor Swift
a) Ask the children if they know the game Musical Statues. Tell them that they’re going to play
a game a little bit like Musical Statues and that if they can beat you to win, you will give
them all a Haribo treat.
b) Explain that they are going to be fairies and superheroes and you are going to give each of
them a magic shaker (egg shaker).
c) When the music plays they must march their magic shakers to the Fairy Kingdom
(demonstrate as you tell them). When the music stops it means that the baddie is coming. The children must freeze and be really still and quiet (demonstrate freezing) so the baddie can’t hear them and steal their magic shakers. “If everyone is really still and quiet when the music stops, you will all win a Haribo treat.”
d) “I am going to turn into the baddie every time the music stops.”
e) Give each child a magic shaker.
f) Play ‘Shake it Off’ and the children march around the room and shake their magic shakers.
g) Pause the music and pretend to be the baddie. The children freeze. You get
grumpy because they’ve managed to escape you. “I’ll get you next time!” Try to be as silly as you can to make the children laugh.
