P. 6

Set Two (45 mins)
13. PASS THE PARCEL: ‘Spider-Man Theme’ performed by Michael Bublé’ (if requested) Make it clear to the children before you play the game that “everybody gets a turn.” Play the track and the children pass the parcel around in a circle. When you pause the music, the child holding the parcel opens a layer and keeps the gift inside. Use a remote control to pause the music so you can help the younger children pass the parcel and open it when it is their turn. The children can eat their treat, put it in their pocket or give it to an adult to mind so that it does not distract them from the rest of the party. NB: Make sure to check the party entertainer guidelines for instructions on making the parcel and for maximum spending amounts.
14. Fairy SAYS*
Tell the children you hope they haven’t forgotten how to be fairies and superheroes whilst eating all that delicious tea! Tell them that you are going to test them again by playing a game a bit like ‘Simon Says’ called ‘Fairy Says’! If you say “FAIRY SAYS touch your toes” then they must copy you and touch their toes, but if you don't say “FAIRY SAYS” and simply say “touch your toes” then they must remain still! Start with some easy instructions like: “FAIRY SAYS touch your toes/spin around/hug a friend/jump/clap” and remove the “FAIRY SAYS” whenever you see fit! Then move onto some fairy and superhero themed actions, such as cast a spell/sprinkle magic dust/fly/shoot webs/catch a baddie etc. You may need to demonstrate the fairy and superhero actions before including them in the game.
NB: If you are dressed as a superhero then adapt the game so it becomes “Spiderman/Bat Girl/Wonder Woman etc. Says”.
15. CHOREOGRAPHED DANCE TWO: ‘Fairy Dancing’ performed by The Fairies Click on song name to open the video in YouTube.
“It’s time for you to learn my favourite fairy dance.” Hand each girl a ‘fairy’ wand and each boy a ‘superhero’ sword and practice the tricky moves. Play the track and perform the dance as in the video.
16. CHASING GAME*: ‘Catch the Fairies and Superheroes!’ (sung to the traditional tune of ‘Tiny Tim’)
“And now you’re going to have a short fairy and superhero lesson. I am the teacher and you are my students. Follow me.” Sing the song acapella and perform the actions as indicated by the lyrics.
“All superheroes must know how to climb tall buildings.”
The heroes are climbing, the heroes are climbing, the heroes are climbing, in the superhero class.
“All fairies must know how to cast a spell!”
The fairies cast a spell, the fairies cast a spell, the fairies cast a spell, in the fairy class.
“It is essential that all superheroes and fairies know how to fly.”
The fairies and heroes are flying, the fairies and heroes are flying, the fairies and heroes are flying, in the fairy and superhero class.
The fairies and heroes are sleeping... The fairies and heroes are waking...
“Now I’m going to be the baddie and chase you and see how many fairies and superheroes I can catch!” Chase the children as you sing the final verse.
The baddie is chasing...
Ask the birthday boy/girl if they would like to be the next baddie. If they say no, choose someone with their hand up who managed to escape you. Remind the next baddie that when you sing “The baddie is chasing” they must catch as many fairies and superheroes as possible. Repeat and then choose a child who “managed to escape” to be the next baddie (otherwise they’ll all just be caught on purpose). Repeat as many times as necessary (for example if there is no pass the parcel and/or not many children you may get through the activities quickly and so extend this one, or if you are running
behind you could perform the activity just two or three times).
