Lesson Plan
1. Warm-up: ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ performed by The Wiggles

2. Focus activity: ‘Yes We Can’ written by Unknown

3. Travel to Storyland

4. Introduce the theme
“Let’s take a look in the sparkly magic bag and see what clue there is for today’s story.” Take out the group of friends laminate. Ask the children the following questions.
a) “What is in this picture?”
b) “How many friends are in this picture?” Everyone counts out loud together as
you point to the children in the picture one by one.
c) Everyonecountsthefriendsoutloudtogetherthreemoretimes,usingvoicetypes
explored during today’s ‘Yes We Can’ game.
d) Ask a volunteer to tell everyone something they like to do with their friends. You
act out performing the suggested activity (using upper body) and the children
copy you. Repeat using suggestions from three more volunteers.

5. Action song or poem: ‘Tony Chestnut’ (traditional)
