Weekly Drama Activity Break down
1. Warm-up: ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ performed by The Wiggles
Play the track and perform actions as indicated by the lyrics. Make sure to use lots of energy!
* Running time approx. 1 min 45 secs.
2. Focus activity: Name Game or ‘Yes We Can’
Without speaking, get the children into a circle by singing acapella:
Let’s make a circle, A circle, a circle. Let’s make a circle, Here today.
Repeat until everyone is in a circle and then encourage the children to sit down. Please use this song every time you need the children in a circle throughout the lesson.
Next your lesson plan will indicate for you to either play a name game or perform the ‘Yes We Can’ activity.
Name Game
(weeks one, three, five, seven, nine, 11 and 13)
“Now it’s time for us to play a name game. We’re each going to say our name and our favourite body part. It could be your nose, your tummy, your elbows, your feet or anywhere! I’m going to go first. My name is (Your Name) and my favourite body part is (your favourite body part).” You quickly lead the group in repeating your name as you tap your chosen body part.
Choose a confident volunteer. The volunteer says their name and favourite body part. You quickly lead the group in repeating their name as you tap the chosen body part on your own body. Continue in order around the circle until every child has had a turn. Make sure to use lots of energy and move through each child’s turn as quickly as possible.

Yes we can,” at the correct time and using the appropriate voice. Once you have been through each question, repeat the activity two more times.
Teacher: Can you use your speaking voice? Children: Yes we can. Yes we can.
