15. CHOREOGRAPHED DANCE TWO: ‘Route 66’ performed by John Mayer

Go through any tricky moves with the children. Hand each child an egg shaker and perform the dance as shown in the video. Do not hand out the shakers before going through the tricky moves as the shakers might distract them.
16. CHASING GAME*: ‘Catch the Drivers!’ (sung to the traditional tune of ‘Tiny Tim’)
“And now you’re going to have a short driving lesson. I am the teacher and you are my students. Follow me.” Sing the song acapella and perform the actions as indicated by the lyrics.
“Every racing car driver must know how to wash their car.”
The drivers are washing, the drivers are washing, the drivers are washing, in the driving class.
“Every racing car driver must know how to turn.”
The drivers are turning, the drivers are turning, the drivers are turning, in the driving class.
“Every racing car driver must know how to race.”
The drivers are racing, the drivers are racing, the drivers are racing, in the driving class. The drivers are sleeping...
The drivers are waking...
“Now I’m going to run and chase you and see how many racing car drivers I can catch!” Chase the
children as you sing the final verse.
The driving teacher’s chasing...
Ask the birthday boy/girl if they would like to be the next driving teacher. If they say no, choose someone with their hand up who managed to escape you. Remind the next driving teacher that when you sing, “The driving teacher’s chasing” they must catch as many racing car drivers as possible. Repeat and then choose a child who “managed to escape” to be the next driving teacher (otherwise they’ll all just be caught on purpose). Repeat as many times as necessary (for example if there is no pass the parcel and/or not many children you may get through the activities quickly and so extend this one, or if you are running behind you could perform the activity just two or three times).
17. MUSICAL BUMPS: ‘Collision of Worlds’ performed but Brad Paisley and Robbie Williams
Ask the children if they know the game ‘Musical Bumps’. Tell them we’re going to play a game just like it! “Now we all know that racing cars can go super fast! But when they are going really fast in a race, their tyres wear down and so the pit crew must replace them!” Tell the children that as the music plays they are going to drive around the room like real race cars (demonstrate pretending to drive around with your hands holding a steering wheel as you say this) but when the music stops it means their tyres need changing and so they must become the pit crew and jump down and change the tyres (demonstrate jumping down to the floor, sitting on bottom and changing a tyre as you say this). Do not eliminate children or make anyone ‘out’. Rather, tell them that you will be watching carefully and if they jump down to the floor when the music stops, then they will all get some magic sparkles at the end of the party! Play the track and the children drive all around the room. Encourage them to move in lots of different ways such as going over bumpy roads and smooth roads, turning left, turning right and spinning around in small circles! Pause the music sporadically and the children jump down to change their tyres. At the end of the game, congratulate the children on doing a great job and tell them they’ve all won some magic sparkles that you will give them at the end of the party.
