Lesson Plan
1. Warm-up: ‘Shake Your Sillies Out’ performed by The Wiggles See term three lesson one.
* Running time approx. 2 mins.
2. Stretching and curling: Elephants Spraying Water See term three lesson one.
* Running time approx. 3 mins.
3. Travel to Danceland: ‘Pegleg Pete’ performed by Brandon Fiechter See term three lesson one.
* Running time approx. 4 mins.
4. Introduce the theme: ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ written by Anne Porter Without speaking, get the children into a circle by singing ‘Let’s Make a Circle’ as in term three lesson one.
Take your hand out of your sparkly magic bag and move it over your body as though it is a spider. See if the children can guess what you are making with your hand. Encourage the children to copy you and turn their own hands into spiders. Tell the children that today they will be learning about minibeasts. Ask a volunteer to name another minibeast (e.g. ant, worm, wasp, butterfly, caterpillar etc.) and encourage the group to make that minibeast with their hands. Repeat several times.

5. Fine motor skills: ‘Flutter, Flutter Butterfly’ (traditional)

“And now we’re going to turn our hands and feet into butterflies.” Perform the song acapella four times, using the movements in the video (so two times with hands as butterflies and two times with feet as butterflies).
Flutter, flutter butterfly, Flutter off into the sky. Flutter, flutter very fast, Wave to me as you go past. Bye, bye butterfly.

6. Choreographed dance: ‘The Busy Buzzy Bee Shop’ performed by The Fairies

Teach the children the tricky moves first, then play the track and perform the dance all together, using the choreography from the video.
