1. Tune the Children’s Ukuleles as they Arrive (5-10 mins MAX)

2. Welcome (5 mins): ‘Hello, Hello’ written by Janice Buckner Please see instructions in lesson plan 1.
‘Hello Everyone’
You sing “hello everyone”.
The children respond, “hello Your Name Sparkles”.
You sing hello to several individuals who respond on their own. E.g.
Teacher: Hello Alex
Alex: Hello Your Name Sparkles
3. Getting to Know Your Ukulele (4 mins)
Ask the children if they have done their homework. Choose a volunteer to show you where the head, neck and body are on their ukulele. Then ask all of the class to show you where the heads, necks and bodies are on their ukuleles.
Point to the sound hole. Ask volunteers to tell you what they think it is, looks like or is called. Tell the children it’s called the “sound hole” and ask everyone to repeat the words “sound hole”. Tell the children to all point to the sound holes on their ukuleles.
“Let’s see how quickly you can show me your ukulele’s head.” Congratulate the children who do this. “Let’s see how quickly you can show me your ukulele’s body.” Congratulate the children who do this. “Let’s see how quickly you can show me your ukulele’s neck.” Congratulate the children who do this. “Let’s see how quickly you can show me your ukulele’s sound hole.” Congratulate the children who do this. Repeat a few more times, making sure to mix up the order. “Part of this week’s homework is to learn the name of the sound hole for next week.”
