World Union Teckel (WUT) — the Dackel, Teckel, Dachshund is Becoming a Global Player!
The World Union Teckel was founded in 1992 on the initiative of Wolfgang Ransleben, who remains its Honorary President to this day.
In the beginning, there were markedly fewer member countries. The idea behind the launch was and is transnational consistent rules
for the breeding of Teckel, their training and husbandry while re- taining the sovereignty of the individual member countries. All WUT countries are members of the FCI or strive for a cooperation con- tract with the FCI, ensuring the uniform standard of our Teckel in all countries.
The WUT is chaired by the founding club for Teckel, the DTK 1888 e.V.
The WUT o ers their members conformation shows, tests in the hunting field (SchwoR) and since 2017, in the companion dog field. WUT titles are the conformation and the working champion.
Over the years, the WUT has grown to currently 26 members: Austria, Azerbaijan, Bavarian Dachshund Club, Belgium, Czech Repub- lic, Dachshund Club North Bavaria, Dachshund Club Württemberg- Hohenzollern, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, France, Hunga- ry, Italy, Lithuania, Luxemburg, The Netherlands, North American Teckel Club, Norway, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland.
Canada and Turkey entered as guest members.
Several membership applications already arrived for 2018.
While in the beginning the membership meetings took place ex-
clusively in Germany, the member countries now take turns hosting them in their territory since 2008. Originally, the o cial language was German until English was added in 2017.
In 2018, the WUT members will meet in Strasburg.
We are looking forward to the continuation of the WUT success story for the benefit of our Teckel breeds.
