cross-curriculum activities for Primary and Secondary aged pupils, suitable for those undertaking Arts Award qualifications. Most recently OOTS has been invited to take part in Shakespeare Week in 2017 - a national schools initiative led by The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
OOTS AND FAMILIES CELEBRATING INCLUSION
At OOTS we hope our audiences feel part of the family. To help us achieve this we have delivered “relaxed performances” in Town Hall Birmingham in partnership with Performances Birmingham Limited (PBL) and Autism West Midlands, and are performing in Chelmsford City Theare in March 2017. Amongst many positive outcomes the concerts enable children who may never otherwise have had the opportunity, to experience an exciting world of live orchestral music, whilst also enabling parents to relax in a safe and inclusive environment. We are looking to develop our family offer by ensuring that our performances and venues are Family Friendly (in line with the Family Arts Standards) and to produce a range of family activities linked to our concert programmes in Worcestershire and Stratford.
OOTS AND OLDER PEOPLE CELEBRATING AGE
Through our Music for Life programme, in 2016 alone OOTS musicians delivered over 130 workshops for in excess of 450 care home residents. OOTS has an active commitment to uphold the power of music in the lives of people living with dementia and demonstrates this through staff and player development, training, networking and fundraising to ensure ongoing projects. Two members of the OOTS team are Dementia Champions and our goal is for OOTS players, staff and trustees to become recognised Dementia Friends. Our 2016-17 programme will see workshops delivered across the Midlands.
OOTS AND VOLUNTEERS CELEBRATINGPARTICIPATION
There is another way to become part of the family – by volunteering with us. Staff and players greatly value the roles our volunteers undertake in assisting with marketing, concerts and learning activities. OOTS is currently offering opportunities to support staff in the areas of Front of House at concerts and in our Learning and Participation Team. Visit our website to find out more about how you can get involved.
