Fort Worth Opera General Director Resigns
According to the Dallas Morning N ews, Tuomas Hiltunen, general director of Fort Worth Opera since 2017, resigned suddenly three
months before the company’s
2020 opera festival. Hiltunen
wrote in an email that he
was stepping down “because
of di erent visions of the
direction and goals of the
company.”

According to classicfm.com, London lawyer Matthew Feargrieve has been ordered to pay $650
to fashion designer Ulrich Engler after punching him during a performance of Wagner’s Siegfried at Covent Garden. Engler asked Feargrieve’s partner, Catherine Chandler, whether the empty seat beside her in the front row was taken and if
she had purchased it, to
which she replied, “No.”

his chair in row B to row
A. Feargrieve responded
by hitting him several
times and disrupting the
performance. During the
trial, Judge John Zani told
the defendant, “You really
should not have behaved in
the way you did.” Feargrieve has been found guilty of common assault and must also pay hundreds more in court fees.

A press release from the opera company says Hiltunen “established security and growth by streamlining expenditures, reducing administrative costs and overhead, and maintaining a balanced operatic budget.”
