University Faces
Azusa Pacific University (APU) Opera Workshop students performed Too Many Sopranos by Edwin Penhorwood in March 2019 with stage direction by Catherine Ireland Hackworth and music direction by Kristof Van Grysperre. Located within driving distance from vibrant, cultural Los Angeles, APU’s vocal program, under the direction of renowned soprano Angela Blasi, welcomes gifted young singers to apply.
Members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Chamber Singers and Vocal Jazz Ensemble pose with a statue of J.S. Bach in front of the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Germany. Under the direction of Robert Gehrenbeck and Sharri VanAlstine, the choirs traveled and performed throughout Germany and Poland in May 2019.
The Northwestern University Bienen School of Music presents three fully staged operas each academic year. Pictured here is the fall 2018 production of Britten’s The Turn of the Screw. Other recent productions include The Rake’s Progress, The Dialogues of the Carmelites, Le nozze di Figaro, and more.
