EATFor starters, there is the traditional Greek salad, delicious feta cheese and fresh greens, to follow there is a wealth of options from Souvalki, tender meat pieces on a skewer to Stifado, a stew of meat cooked in tomatoes and onions. It isn’t just the food which is so memorable, the location of restaurants on this island are pretty special too. Head
to Agios Stefanos and Kassiopi, two of Corfu’s most popular resorts and find traditional tavernas along the waterfront.
SEE Hire a car, even for a few days, and you can visit
Corfu Town, a charming historic town with elegant French and Italianate architecture. Discover the fascinating fort area which was a Venetian and British garrison and wander through the narrow lanes lined with plenty of boutiques and restaurants. Looking for lively nightlife? You’ll find plenty of restaurants and bars in Sidari, Barbati and Avlaki. With their wide, gently sloping beaches, they are ideally suited for children.
DO Corfu’s rich historical, cultural and agricultural heritage have bewitched visitors to the island for hundreds of years. There are plenty of day trips available, either to explore the island’s hilltop villages or on a boat to see the gorgeous coastline and remote beaches. There are many small secluded bays and inlets along the North East coast of Corfu, with little beaches that remain unspoilt. One of the most attractive to visit is Agios Stefanos. On the other side of the island why not take a trip to Paleokastritsa, an idyllic horseshoe harbour with a few restaurants and bars.
