EATThe geographical location of Cyprus has resulted in a cuisine which mingles Greek with middle eastern influences. For a relaxed lunch, order a meze to share and sample anari and halloumi cheese hummus, grilled fish, taramasalata and a KEO beer. Slow cooked meat dishes are popular with lamb kleftiko and Afelia, pork marinated overnight and cooked with red wine and spices on many menus. You’ll also find plenty of international choices from Italian to British in the resorts around the island.
SEE History fans will enjoy the archaeological treasures in Paphos including intricate Roman mosaics, the Roman forum and houses dating
to 300BC. You don’t have to venture too far to
see unchanged village life. Pay a visit to Argaka, Ayia Marina or Polis where you can relax over a coffee in the village square and watch the locals go about their daily routine. To get a different angle on the island, take a boat trip around the Akamas Peninsula, stopping along the way at various beaches for a swim.
DO Adrenalin seekers will enjoy the many watersport opportunities from PADI courses to pedaloes. Inland, you can hike in the Akamas national Park, home to a variety of 530 different species of plants which are dazzling in the spring. Let your competitive streak run wild at go-karting or one of the golf courses. Take the family for a day out at one of the waterparks or explore the many beaches.
