dation of all religion^ but also of all knowledge. God is the source of all truth.
Scripture testifies that God is true.
Jesus declared, "...this is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God" (John 17:3). John also said, "And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life" (IJohn 5:20). (See also Jeremiah 10:10; John 3:33; Romans3:4; I Thessalonians1:9;Revelation 3:7; 6:10; Isaiah 65:16; John 14:6; John 1:14; Daniel 4:37; Deuteronomy 32:4; II Samuel 7:28; Psalm 146:6; Hebrews 6:18.)
God hates a lie because He is truth (Acts 5:3-4; Ephesians 4:25; II
Corinthians 12:6; Proverbs 12:19; Zechariah 8:16; Malachi 2:6; Rev. 21:8; Pro v. 6:17; Job 7:10-12). Jesus said, "they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24).
1 Faithfulness
In His relationship to His creature, the truth of God is known as His
veracity and faithfulness. His veracity relates to what He reveals of Himself and to what He says.
• Solomonconfirms,"BlessedbetheLORD,thathathgivenrestuntohis people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word ofall His good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant" (I Kings 8:56).
Moses proclaimed, "Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is od, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them
that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand genera tions (Deuteronomy 7: 9). (See also Isaiah 25:1; I Corinthians 1:9; I Thessalonians 5:24; II Thessalonians 3:3; 1 John 1:9; Hebrews 6:18;
Hebrews 10:23; Revelation 1:5.)
• Jo^ records, "These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true
witness,...and I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True..." (Revelation 3:14; 19:11).
God, who is faithful, requires faithfulness from His servants: "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?" (Matthew 24:45). (See also Matthew 25:21-23; Revelation 2:10; II Timothy 2:2; I Thessalonians 2:4; I
Corinthians 4:1-2.)
