6 It Came to Pass
Drkenesh put off praying until she became too miserable to wait longer. The moment she fell on her knees Jesus appeared to her in a vision, saying, "You have prayed to serve Me since your childhood, and I have called you to My work. You will be Tekle's companion and help him evangelize Ethiopia."
Unconvinced, Erkenesh tried to persuade herself against the validity of what she had seen and heard. "This must be from Satan," she said doubtfully, with a long, drawn-out sigh, "and if You did speak to me, Jesus, please change Your mind."
Another vision came of a frightening, enormous, black mountain barring the way that she needed to go. Letters settled across it to form one word; temptation. A voice whispered in her heart. You will be tempted by human reasoning.
Questions came on the heels of that vision: How can God speak in this way? What about my job and my plans to attend the university? How can I marry a preacher who
