From a summit it is possible toglance down into the valley and identify flickering lights along the road just traveled. Although they may not shine with full radiance, and although they may appear insignificant at the time, yet they steadfastly indicate the upward path. "Line upon line; here a little, and there a little" (Isaiah 28:13). Isaiah foretold the gradual advancement of spiritual knowledge. A small glimmer of light sparked in a hungry heart, and it passed from that heart to another heart yearning for reality.
Void of evangelism, the Orthodox (Coptic) church of Ethiopia existed in rigid insulation in the late nineteenth century. The hierarchy accepted a translation of the Psalms called Dawit, which was handwritten on parch ment and which few coiild afiford to own. They considered the Scriptures printed on paper to be heretic^.
