Best Practices When Your Home Is For Sale
Be Flexible
Making your home available as often as possible, particularly in the first week or two of being on the market is very important. Inconveniencing yourself in the short term will save lots of time and money later on.
Be Patient
With many scheduled showings, we attempt to solicit feedback from every agent that walks through the door. This takes some time but their feedback is very important because it may be indicative of how other buyers feel.
Keep Things Picked Up
Its easy to let things go from spotless to “lived in” in a very short time. Stay diligent in keeping things clean and picked up, and don’t let personal items like shoes, jackets, phone chargers, etc accumulate.
Keep Food and Dishes Out of Site
A fruit basket on the counter is a nice touch, but last nights leftovers or dishes in the sink can be an eyesore. Be sure to keep food off the counters and the sink clean and empty.
Make the Bed
Although it might sound maternalistic, its easily overlooked! Particularly if you’re not already in the habit of making it. If you’re being flexible with showings, you might find yourself with a short time to get ready and out of the house, and forgetting to make the bed is easy to do.
Open Blinds For Natural Light
Lights in the house are okay too. The important thing is to make sure your home is bright and well lit when someone walks into it.
