 Keynote Speakerer
We’re excited to welcome our keynote speaker Bonnie St. John, the first African American ski racer to win medals in Winter Paralympic competition and the author of Micro-Resilience: Minor Shifts for Major Boosts in Focus, Drive, and Energy. St. John will close out the Conference portion of the week with a dynamic keynote informed by her perspective on resilience and how it has affected her life. Here’s a preview of how St. John describes resilience in her book:
“According to Dictionary.com, resilience is ‘the power or ability to return to the original form . . . after being bent, compressed, or stretched.’ Think of a sponge. When you squeeze a sponge, it will always spring back to its normal shape. But we believe that normal is not good enough; we focus instead on ways to bounce back better than normal.”
We feel St. John’s attitude toward resilience resonates with the mentality of Certified Instructors like you. As a Certified Instructor, you must learn from every crisis moment and apply that knowledge to the next one. Resilience involves dedication and commitment — the strength and tenacity to transform organizational culture.
