Introduction
There has been lots of change for both public and private sector organisations over the last few years – with the pandemic having thrown up many more challenges.
A further shift is on the way too – this time in the form of the UK Government’s new Environment Act, which comes into effect in 2023.
This will mean that all food-producing organisations in England will have to deal with their food waste compliantly, in order to avoid penalties.
However, one of the most interesting, and equally shocking things is that these new regulations haven’t been widely publicised - meaning many organisations are neither aware that the new law applies to them, nor what food waste disposal compliance actually looks like.
Who is this guide relevant for?
This guide will help all food producing organisations across a spectrum of sectors – including hospitality, healthcare, education, business, facilities management, and environmental and waste consultancies to navigate the new law and ensure compliance in line with the 2023 deadline.
We will explain what the Environment Act is; what it means for food waste disposal; who it affects; and how to be compliant.
Whether you’re a catering manager, procurement decision maker, estate/facilities manager, school bursar, chef, or owner of a group of care homes who is wondering what to do next be it a complete operational overhaul or making slight adjustments to your existing set-up, we’re here to help.
I hope you find this resource useful.
