LUNCHEON

The Delta Dears Luncheon was a fantastic event with great food, drink, and music. It was indeed a time to experience joy in the sisterhood and be entertained by fun-filled games with prizes. Additionally, life-changing information on ways to protect themselves from scams and Identity theft, whether via phone, text, email, or in person was also provided.
Another area of concern, which was presented by BSO Deputy Nicole Lovett, included personal safety while walking, shopping, and banking. Safety in the home, slips and falls by the elderly, and the hardships of making contact with emergency resources were also presented. The discussion was enjoyed by all.
A presentation from Soror Alfreda Coward, Esq. with particular emphasis on Wills, Trust, Powers of Attorney, and Estate Executives, followed by many questions and examples of the importance of writing Advanced Directives such as Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) or medical treatment desires were presented. The discussions was so interesting that the sorority plans to present another seminar at a later date.
The D.E.A.R.S. challenged each soror to assist with donating over 100 toiletry boxes, to a local Women's Homeless Shelter.
In addition, the Dears were given an update on their Service Project, which provided Care packages of toiletries to Homeless Women in different areas of Broward County, including the Salvation Army, and Women In Distress.
We honor our Delta Dears, not only during our Sisterhood Month, but also for their wisdom, life experiences, and leadership. The in- person laughter, hugs, dancing were maximized by all.
The Broward County Sheriff's Department made a short presentation, teaching our sorors to protect themselves by following these essential safety tips: staying safe at home, while out shopping, walking, and/or driving; protecting self from scams; protecting identity.
