Service is what we do
SOS: Light Up the Village by Soror Samone Gibson
Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your spare time.” ~ Marian Wright Edelman
SOS: Diaper Drive by Soror Samone Gibson
Recently, Broward
County Alumnae Chapter
participated in a
successful Diaper Drive
for the children at the
SOS Children's Village. The Village comprises 13 Coconut Creek homes, feeding and clothing siblings in foster care. BCAC continues to support the village with some of its specific needs, such as supplying diapers and pull-ups for the Shelter's youngest population.
Thank you, sorors, for being so generous and donating diapers to this vital organization. When we asked, you answered the call at our November chapter meeting. The children and assigned
home
mothers
appreciate
our support.

Delta Academy and Delta GEMS presented KWANZAA 2022. They filled the room with songs, dances, and historical readings representative of this ancestral holiday. Guests were astonished as they gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for this community-focused, rooted-in-tradition holiday,
Harambee!!
It’s Giving Season. Thank you to my beautiful sorors for coming out to decorate our “Grinch” themed home at the SOS Children’s Village. Serving the community is one of the ways we dynamically show up for children.
As you can imagine, the holidays can be challenging for children separated from their families. Some of them struggle with an overall sense of grief, loneliness, and self- blame. Having their neighborhood bright and lovingly decorated helps them enjoy the holidays despite their circumstances. We were one of 12 other organizations that participated.
The Delta Elves this year were sorors Ayanna Slater- Haskins, Jacqueline Pierce, Felicia Turnley, Winifred Pettis Andrews, Dawn Thurston, Andrea Brynon, Sherry Lewis, LaVonda Miller,
Taneka Lawrence, Samone Gibson and Deidre E. Johnson. In addition, Erkica Lockett from the community was a volunteer.
