LIFE AS A RESULT OF COVID-19
"CELEBRATION"
A PERSONAL STORY
APERSONAL TESTIMONY
SURVIVING THROUGH COVID-19
WHAT WAS YOUR COVID-19 PERSONAL EXPERIENCE?
My COVID-19 experience was not pleasant at all. I have not been comfortable sharing this before but I had COVID-19 three times. The first time it was just after the 4th of July 2019.... no Bueno! That was a period of me having extremely high fevers, chills, sweats, aches, and sleeping (which I began to refer to as "time traveling"). It was hard to find the energy just to make it to the kitchen. I took vitamins and made a homemade concoction with boiling water and lemons, limes, and oranges to get the nutrients. I was thinking of the teachings of Dr. Sebi and sickness not being allowed to exist in an alkaline body. I was becoming a self-proclaimed "scientist" (not really obviously), by drinking and remaking the water that I made a minimum of three times a day, combined with the vitamin regimen. I lost my appetite but it returned over time.
The second bout with COVID-19 was much worse. I couldn't even think or believe that it was happening again but I woke up one morning aching. By the end of the day I was shaking uncontrollably to the point that I had to be held down and squeeze a cloth in my mouth to stop my teeth from harshly clattering for about two days off and on. My teeth have become decalcified and I have a lot of "fun dental work" to look forward to. I went from hot to cold almost instantly.
Unfortunately, I had to send my kids with my mother and I was home, basically wasting away. I was too weak to complete normal daily activities.

MEMBER, BROWARD COUNTY ALUMNAE
Soror Meegan Evans is a mother of two that survived three bouts of COVID-19. She is unsure of what lasting damage COVID-19 has done to her health, but she reports feeling a little better daily. She celebrates that she is still alive and can tell everyone that although COVID-19 had her down and almost out, she beat COVID-19 three times and celebrates recovering each day!

THE HEALING PROCESS
CELEBRATING RECOVERY - A SURVIVORS TESTIMONY
There were times I had to crawl because I could not walk. I was highly depressed for a while but was pushing through as much as God allowed me. He allowed me to make it further than I thought I would; I am not sure why. I saw (and still do) black spots in my line of vision, and my eyes would not stop vibrating or focusing correctly. I am still photosensitive, and when it is too bright, I can't see. I am wearing sunglasses at this moment to write this.
The second time took much more work to recover. My legs still feel like bricks on the bottom. I suffered a great deal of nerve damage and wake up every morning still feeling it. My eyes are in ruins to the point of looking at computer screens, and even looking at my phone screen for too long gives me problems on most days. My memory is also impaired; these things are embarrassing and make socializing hard. I never wanted it to be noticed by others. My speech slurs at times as well. That makes me not even want to have phone conversations, but that is getting better.
The third bout with COVID was more subtle with physical symptoms but left me with more memory loss and a loss of 60 pounds. It doesn't sound like something to complain about, but it's not so pleasant when you lose it rapidly and unintentionally. I am more feeble. My significant other has to drive me to places over 10 to 20 miles most days, especially at night, because my legs have withered away. I'm glad I have such a great support group, but it's been a struggle. COVID-19 has affected my family extensively as well; for instance, my teen daughter cried when she learned about my illness and thought I would not make it. She had to grow up too soon,..... and I wouldn't say I liked that. I'll always hate that. In another instance, this last year December, I had to place my kids' burden on my mother again. I spent half their Christmas looking at them from outside the window. I was asleep (from the fatigue) but present nonetheless.
I am grateful for those I have who will show up immediately and turn their whole lives inside out for me. I'm so fortunate and highly favored!
