Sandra López – Uruguay
In December 2014, Sandra felt an irresistible pull toward India. She wanted to do a Yoga Teacher Training but faced a daunting challenge: her English was minimal. She wrote to several yoga schools, explaining her situation. Only one reply stood out — from Adhiyogi. His response, translated into Spanish by one of his European students, assured her not to worry; he would arrange for translation during her course.
No other school had offered such an opportunity. Adhiyogi also helped arrange her accommodation, setting the tone for the weeks ahead. The training itself was intense — disciplined, structured, and demanding — but extraordinarily effective. Sandra learned by doing, repeating postures until she could feel them from within. She realized that this was the only way to truly teach yoga.
At times, she felt frustrated: the language barrier, the relentless routine, and the weight of homesickness pressed heavily. Yet, she also knew she was improving every day. Temple visits, cultural programs, and early-morning ceremonies deepened her understanding of India’s spiritual roots. Her arrival had even been marked by a 6 a.m. temple visit — a gesture she considered a blessing.
Sandra left India with a truth that would stay with her: the only barriers are the ones we create in our own minds. Today, Sandra is a very famous Yoga Teacher in Uruguay! Adhiyogi admires her for her bravery and patience!
OM Shantiḥ.
