Adhiyogi’s Education at Indian Institute of Technology and the Seeds of a Lifelong Journey
When Adhiyogi secured admission to India’s premier engineering institute, it was a moment of pride not just for his family but for the entire community. Yet the elation was short-lived. Within just a day, reality struck hard — his father, Vinayak, earned a modest ₹100 per month, while the cost of living and tuition neared ₹400. It was clear: this dream might be unaffordable.
But Vinayak, calm and composed, offered a simple but profound assurance:
“Everything will work out.”
It did. Miraculously.
The very next day, an old family friend, Jagannath — a humble priest who had once assisted Vinayak in Thursday Arati rituals — appeared unexpectedly. When he learned about Adhiyogi’s educational hurdle, he mentioned it to his current employer, a wealthy industrialist, when he went for his Puja duty to the industrialist’s house. Moved by the story, the industrialist immediately pledged to sponsor Adhiyogi’s entire five-year education — and even promised future funding for studies in the United States. A silent miracle had unfolded — rooted in devotion, humility, and karmic bonds.
The IIT Years: Where Engineering Met Inner Development
Adhiyogi left home for the first time and immersed himself in the demanding world of Aerospace Engineering. The academic rigor was daunting, but perhaps more challenging was the emotional weight of separation from family. Vinayak’s regular letters were lifelines. Repeating like a mantra, he wrote:
“Focus on Shirdi Sai Baba. Seek peace of mind.”
It was only years later that Adhiyogi would understand the deep spiritual foundation laid by those words. They would become the philosophical pillars of the Adhiyoga System.
In the IIT environment, Adhiyogi continued to practice yoga with great sincerity. He would often find secluded spaces to go through his asana, pranayama, and meditation routines, sometimes becoming an object of curiosity for his peers. But something deeper was at play.
He met up to 25 deeply spiritual friends — kindred souls whose perspectives and conversations transformed his life. Some of these friendships have lasted to this very day. They helped refine his values and inspired his inner discipline.
