The Inauguration of Adhiyogananda University
On Vijayaswati Day in 2021, Dr. Neel Kulkarni, the founder of the Adhiyoga system, made a historic announcement. With a calm yet determined voice, he declared the inauguration of Adhiyogananda University, an online platform envisioned to share the profound wisdom of yoga with seekers across the world.
The idea for this university had not arisen in isolation. A dedicated student, Sanjay Mansukhani from Kolkata, who had studied Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras for 18 years, approached Dr. Kulkarni to learn directly under him. After months of study, Sanjay revealed a mystical experience: he had seen Dr. Kulkarni’s father—a self-realized yogi—in his dreams. The yogi urged him to help spread the knowledge of Adhiyoga. With his strong background in management and administration, Sanjay suggested the creation of a formal project to carry forward this wisdom.
At first uncertain of the practical steps, Dr. Kulkarni soon found clarity through another unusual encounter. In Rome, he met Ivana Spoletini, a woman of mystical inclination. At just sixteen, she was known for her spiritual insights. When Dr. Kulkarni visited her home, she gazed into her glass ball and claimed to see him alongside his father and his father’s guru. She predicted he was about to embark on an important project. That vision resonated deeply with him, and the idea of Adhiyogananda University crystallized instantly.
The university, named after the title Adhiyogananda conferred upon him by Pandit Vasantrao Gadgil in Pune, began its journey with a modest website—www.adiyogananda.com. Though in its early stages, the vision was clear: to host all of Dr. Kulkarni’s educational material, and to offer certification and non-certification courses online.
The inaugural event welcomed Ivana Spalatini as the chief guest, symbolizing the fusion of tradition, mysticism, and modern education. From this beginning, Adhiyogananda University set out to carry the timeless teachings of yoga into the digital age, guided by faith, inspiration, and a shared vision.
OM Shantiḥ
