A Family’s Journey to Wellness: The Story of Pranav and Dr. Manisha
In the early summer of 2001, in Alexandria, Virginia, a quiet but significant moment unfolded in the life of Pranav Kapoor, a kind-hearted software engineer battling a heart condition. Alongside him was his sister-in-law, Dr. Manisha Dev, also a software professional and deeply inquisitive about alternative health practices.
They had heard about a small, authentic Yoga class taught by a teacher named Adhiyogi, whose reputation for deep healing, precision, and compassionate instruction was beginning to spread in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Eager for change and healing, they decided to attend.
The first class was gentle and accessible. There was no rush, no showmanship—just breath, awareness, and a sincere teacher guiding the way. What happened after that class left a mark.
Pranav shared, “For the first time in a very long time, my chest didn’t feel tight. I had been living with that discomfort for so long, I almost didn’t notice it anymore. But after class, it was gone.”
The experience ignited a spark. He wrote to Adhiyogi, expressing gratitude for the session and his hope to dive deeper into Yoga. “I’m really looking forward to getting into this practice,” he added. “Please do send me the information you promised.” It was the start of a new path.
But the journey didn't stop there.
In 2002, over a year later, Pranav and Dr. Manisha, now living in Baltimore, Maryland, reached out again—this time not for themselves, but for their young son. The boy had suffered from persistent cold-related issues since early childhood. Numerous conventional approaches had brought little improvement.
During one of their conversations with Adhiyogi, they mentioned the ongoing problem. He gently suggested a dietary shift: eliminate all dairy products first, then slowly reintroduce only organic milk. The results were nothing short of transformational.
In a heartfelt note to Adhiyogi, they wrote:
“Your suggestions related to stopping the dairy products and then only allowing organic milk to have resulted in recovery from his cold-related problems. Additionally, his appetite, which was very poor in the past, has improved—resulting in better strength and overall wellbeing. We are thankful to you and wish you the best in your work on health and Yoga.”

For the Kapoor family, Yoga and holistic health were no longer abstract ideas—they had become a way of life. What began as a search for relief turned into a multi-dimensional journey of healing, personal growth, and greater family wellbeing.
