74 TOPIC 4 PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT FOR PRESCHOOLERS
• Learning environment must be able to support curiosity and exploration and play. Teachers must consider the outdoors and indoors as areas for learning. Children can be involved in the decision making and planning.
• The materials used must be of interest to the students. They should also be accessible materials and natural materials. The use of recycled materials is also a smart way to enhance learning.
• Preschoolers can utilise experiential centres as a platform for investigation and exploration.
• Caregivers and teachers must be able to support diversity among pre- scholars. There are certain values that young learners must understand in order to accept the differences among their friends.
• Designing a floor plan to support learning requires careful consideration. Materials and equipment must be outfitted accordingly based on the childrenÊs age and needs.
