650 - HOUR MASSAGE THERAPY HYBRID CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
Orientation Orientation - 5 hours: Berkana Institute Program
Orientation Orientation Clinical Practicum and Clinic Clinic Orientation – 63 hours: Students provide massage therapy to the the general public in in in a a a a a a a a a professional clinic setting with instructor supervision Interview skills are cultivated Documentation of of sessions including SOAP notes notes and and session planning notes notes are are kept and and treatments are are planned in in in in consideration of pathologies
22 and contraindications Required Instructor Sessions – 4 hours: Students receive 2 sessions from core program bodywork instructors in in the second and fourth quarters of the the program These sessions are scheduled at the the Institute Students write an an essay for each experience Anatomy & Physiology - 40 hours: Intensive study of of the the systems organization and structure of of the the human body Musculoskeletal Anatomy - 40 hours: In depth study of of the the skeletal skeletal muscular and articular systems of of the the human body Self-Care & Hygiene - - - 6 hours: Lectures cover proper proper self-care and hygiene for the the massage therapist including proper proper sanitation and and appropriate hygienic practice standards Personal Inventory - 10 hours: Students begin to to to explore why they want to to to be be a a a a a a a a massage therapist and what responsibilities come with the profession Massage Therapy Foundation Level 1- 40 hours: Students learn the the basic rules of of engagement of of massage therapy and how to provde a a a a a a a a full body Swedish Swedish Massage utilizing classic Swedish Swedish strokes such as as as petrissage effleurage tapotement compressions and friction This class in boot camp style Massage Therapy Foundation Level 2 - 40 hours: With a a a a a a a a a a foundation in basic massage execution Students are introduced to working with a a a a diverse community including adolescents senior citizens and expectant mothers Experiential exercises help students cultivate more confidence and fluidity when providing a a a a a a western style massage treatment Intermediate techniques are introduced and practiced History and and and Benefits of of Massage - 4 hours: Students learn the the origins of of massage and and and begin to to understand the the benefits of receiving therapeutic massage as as defined by the the AMTA THE THE BERKANA INSTITUTE OF MASSAGE THERAPY
