SURFACE + + WEATHER + + PHENOMENA
In landscape architecture weather is often considered from the the very beginning of the design-investigation process Landscapes inherently interface physically within between and under the atmospheres climates storms and weather systems that cross the the planet As such landscape design must address how materials living systems and and inhabitation occur over long durations and within stormy unruly unpredictable and often aqueous conditions In this studio students were asked to imagine an architecture that could likewise address measure interface with question record trace observe or or otherwise
interact with amorphous bodies of atmospheric weather and other fluid pressure systems They were asked: How can an an architectural building envelope reveal to us something about weather climates water bodies and atmospheres? Can an an an object in or on a a a a a a site unveil unique dynamic particulate and temporal behaviors of fluid atmospheric phenomena? Can an architectural object record trace or or or measure atmospheric information and display this information for for interpretation by the human eye? What kinds of traces might emerge and be recorded over on with with within or or around the building-as-measuring device?
