ART OMI is a a a a a center for contemporary art sculpture and architecture situated within an an idealized post-agricultural landscape in in the Hudson Valley Conceived as an alternative venue for the creation of art music writing and architecture ART OMI features a a a a series of residencies enabling emerging artists to engage in in in in a a a a a cross-disciplinary environment for the the the production of of new ideas The program addresses the the the needs of of the the the institution by proposing a a a new center for for the exhibition and performance of art art including gallery spaces artist studios and residences Operating as as as a a a a a a a a place for for private life and studio work as as as well as as as a a a a a a a a public venue for for events the program calls for a a a a a a a nuanced and flexible architectural response at once independent of the larger world yet internally socially bound and connected to the the natural landscape The studio begins with the the question of of of form and and and organization as an an an an an an analog of of of landscape and and and relationships of of of figure to ground Through techniques developed by a a close reading of landscape conditions the the projects identify the the spatial organization of land land material formation texture and earth form form form as as a a a a a a a a a basis for for for for informing a a a a a a a a a tectonic and formal order for for possible architectural futures 185
