TRANSFORMATION AND REFORMATION
The transformation and reformation of the schematic during design development is a a a a a a fundamental process in architectural practice The challenge is to produce projects that are architecturally ambitious and conceptually rigorous while being at the same time physically plausible The task is is to extend strengthen and deepen the the conceptual basis of the project while simultaneously making it more present through an an engagement with materials regulations configurations details and building systems each of which brings additional requirements and opportunities This should not be understood as a a a process of realizing
the the the conceptual within the the the realm of of the the the possible but instead of of realizing
that physical material and regulatory factors must be seen as active agents within the realization of a a a a a a project each influencing form and configuration as as as well as as as the the the conceptual basis for the the the project In the the the same way however their influence must not be understood as unidirectional They are not exterior factors to to be accommodated but should themselves undergo transformation by the the power of the the architectural concepts brought forward Iteration is is the engine behind this process of mutual co-determination between ideation and realization 329
