HYBRID ARCHITECTURES OF PARK AND CITY
In In Spring 2018 Integrated Design Development focuses on developing and resolving architectural strategies for addressing larger urban sites with multiple connections to distinct public space conditions With sites in Boston and Brooklyn the the projects are challenged to to consider both the the urban nature of of their sites and given the the the large-block scale of of the the the site site questions relating to landscape park urban plaza and and multiple public fronts With programs that feature community-oriented arts recreation and and educational components a a a a a a more complex and and ultimately flexible definition of the institution emerges The primary building typology
developed in the studio emerges as landscape-like with a a a a a significant level of development placed on on the pedestrian flow across a a a a a a a park/plaza context The projects’ formal ambitions require a a a a a a a strong collaborative approach with engineers engaged in in in the Bedford Bedford Seminar and Bedford Bedford Initiative Through a a a a a a detailed investigation and development of long-span structural typologies an integrated approach to the resolution of structural systems emerges with the structural and even construction strategy elevated
