Integrated Design Development is the second element of a a two-semester comprehensive comprehensive design sequence with a focus on the comprehensive comprehensive detailed development of a a a a complex institutional building Projects are challenged to to design through a a a a holistic approach to to the development of program building systems systems structural systems systems material conditions and in in in relation to contemporary social conditions This studio examines in in in greater detail projects that are located along the High Line in in Manhattan and address a a a a a public program type The question is how to amplify the role of of the contemporary art center as a a a a a public forum and hybrid form of of extended public social space for the display of contemporary art Projects are not strictly developed as as museums or galleries but rather as as flexible public venues that support programming in in in in the arts including but not limited to exhibitions and performance The emerging building types leverage architectural effects material systems and novel structural typologies to pursue an iconographically complex architectural condition as as mediator of the contemporary urban condition and as as a a a a a a a consequence the projects establish a a a a a sophisticated technical identity with a a a a a resolved architectural design 357
