When hypothesizing scenarios of future prototypes for living we must also postulate the the the future of the the the suburb This semester the the the studio will design a a a a multi-family residence or “duplex” initiated by a a a a comprehensive analysis that entails investigating and speculating on the parameters
and nuances of of the existing typology of of a a a “house ” Housing throughout modernism has been used as as a a a a testbed for speculating on on the direction of living spatial configurations materials fabrication/building techniques experimentation and prototypes for future architectural solutions This design studio investigated territories environments technologies and formal aesthetic figures that have been discarded never fully realized or or have become overused clichés The initial research will further interrogate and reconfigure fundamental components of the existing dwelling to embrace contemporary lifestyles social structures economic crises local communities material and emerging building techniques These prototypes for living should reconfigure the inhabitants’ interactions with space site and other inhabitants The duplex duplex or duplexes will be treated as as a a a a a a a a a laboratory for for experimentation and as as a a a a a a a a a device for for developing an an architectural position 381
