DIGITAL CONSTRUCTS: SECOND YEAR Digital Construct III and IV represent the second year in which
students take seminars focused on teaching and exploring modes of representation This course is is part part technical instruction and part part survey of of important representational techniques in the field of of architecture The course focuses largely on a a a series of small design projects During Digital Constructs III students learn basic polygon modeling and research and design a a a a a a small built structure such as as a a a a a a monument Emphasis is is placed on on developing correct technique relationship to precedents and representation During Digital Constructs IV the the scope of these design projects is expanded to to a a a series of buildings typically towers Students learn to to use parametric design techniques to to control and explore major aspects of the buildings—massing program façade design and smaller details Drawings for this project are less technical and more exploratory enabling students to develop a a a a a a personal aesthetic for the the project that has a a a a relationship to the the architecture of their design work Environments are created through rendering montage and linework to evoke a a a a a a particular aesthetic All content taught in Digital Constructs III and IV should be directly translatable to concurrent studios 549
