This seminar explores physical translation from image to object and vice versa The entire semester’s body of work is read as one continuous project where students go through a process of multiple exercises to understand representation digital manipulation and and fabrication as well as design through sectional cuts and and the use of manual and and digital design tools The seminar ‘Indefinite Form’ explores the relationship between flat murals and and built form In this course graffti and and objects with delineated volumes are studied and transformed into flattened instruments through digital digital manipulation and techniques of digital digital sculpting These instruments maintain the the allure of their volumetric counterparts with the use of slicing layering and an an image projection (flatbed printing) Throughout the the course of the the class we investigate graphics representation and fabrication techniques through the configuration of a a a a a a miniature sculpture The graphics play a a a a a a key role in in reintroducing additional information through color As the physical form form is highly abstract the texture tells a a a a story through image-referencing
to to the the original found object while remaining true to to the the vibrancy of contemporary graffti-style murals 583
