THEORETICAL HOUSES OF THE THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY
This studio began with the the study and analysis of five paintings by the the master artist and educator Paul Klee selected for their unique richness of form space and color Each student was asked to choose one of the five paintings and and invent a a a a a a a set of drawings and and physical models that would capture some of of the the the primary elements of of the the the Klee paintings Over the the the course of the the semester these initial investigations were transformed into a a a a series of possible site and house proposals Students were tasked with using the the the spatial and material qualities of the the the paintings as the the the generator of of program and ways of of inhabiting space This house for two inhabitants
was further developed by the the selection of two specific living artists
who would coexist within this experimental environment The list of individuals was diverse and consisted of Carsten Höller Yaoyoi Kusama Solange Knowles Joni Mitchell Amalia Pica Richard Serra Kamasi Washington and Ai Weiwei The cross-exchange of knowledge between the the the paired artists
served as another layer to to to be woven into the the the totality of the the project The intergenerational nature of the the pairing was encouraged as a a a a a a a a way to create a a a a a a a a more dynamic place of exchange between the two inhabitants
