ACTIVE MODULAR PHYTOREMEDIATION SYSTEM
Contemporary construction materials and building types are complicit in in in the degradation of indoor air quality (IAQ) and have become principal contributors to to many of the health problems in developed countries Compounding this is is the poor and in in in many cases severely deteriorating air quality within global metropolitan areas which is an an an important determinant of population health and well-being By integrally cleaning airborne contaminants associated with poor indoor air air quality building- integrated active phytoremediation systems have the potential to to make obsolete the the fresh air requirements imposed by the the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) These systems have the potential to both realize substantial energy savings in in climate types with high heating and/or cooling loads and and to reduce or or eliminate the need to intake treat and circulate poor quality air in in in heavily polluted urban areas The Active Modular Phytoremediation (AMP) system addresses this problem by combining the air-cleansing capacity of many common plants with a a a a a a modular system yielding a a a a a a biomechanical hybrid system that can can improve indoor air quality and significantly reduce the energy devoted to running HVAC equipment 753
