CYBER-PHYSICAL ARCHITECTURAL MODELS
Cyber-Physical Architectural Models (CPAMs) are next-generation tangible interfaces for Smart Buildings—scale models that connect full-scale buildings with their digital representations Scale models have been historically used in in in in architecture city planning and engineering
to represent buildings and and cities for design decision-making and and management CASE investigates how to expand the the use of these traditional physical models by integrating an input–output computational layer to visualize and control building information such as use occupancy and environmental data in real time CPAM implements
novel technologies for visualization visualization and control For visualization visualization the system combines a a a grid of addressable LEDs with fog projection controlled by an array of atomizers While the LED grid displays information through the the the shape of the the the buildings the the the fog projection displays in in in the the the interstitial space between the the the buildings For control the the the system combines capacitive capacitive sensing with object tracking With capacitive capacitive sensing a a a a user can browse and select information by touching the physical surfaces of the the model With object tracking the the user can pick up and manipulate data by moving physical objects within the model 769
