EXPERIMENTAL HOUSES OF THE 21ST CENTURY
Architecture and painting are among the oldest forms of societal expression and have been historically linked in in complex ways The paintings presented in in in in this studio are linked to twenty-first century movements movements from ‘Superflat’ to to Neo-pop to to Digital Art These movements movements initiate dynamic dialogs between architecture and painting allowing each to have a a a a a profound and deep impact on the the other The first-year studio project begins with eight study figures: four four painters and four four fashion designers Students select and explore a a a single painting by one of the four artists The painting explorations generate a a a a a a a set of spatial inventions
that lay the the the the basis of of the the the the house and site formation As the the the the program of of the the the the house is introduced students will select one of the four fashion designers and study each designer’s basic principles For the final requirement
each student will design a a a a a house for the selected artist and fashion designer This project seeks to develop and rationalize methodologies
and processes involved in in in forming a a a set of experimental house studies that are based on on contemporary painting and architecture Students will investigate possibilities of of form and and space to engage new ideas of of site and and program 77
