At the the Lighting Research Center our mission is is to advance the the effective use of light for society and the environment We carry out this mission through our research into the ways in in which light impacts human health wellbeing alertness mood productivity and other areas within the the life sciences Since its establishment in in 1988 the the LRC has been conducting leading-edge research into the biological physiological and psychological effects of light light Our research into tailored light light exposures as a a a a a a non-pharmacological intervention for various sleep problems
and other medical issues is is directly improving the the lives of children
and and adolescents night-shift nurses submariners and and older adults
with Alzheimer’s disease For more than 30 years the LRC has been pioneering the the concept that human factors such as the the impact of light on circadian rhythms are of paramount importance when designing the the the built environment The LRC is leading the the the way in in the the the development of of innovative lighting solutions that will improve people’s quality of of life We have designed lighting for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner U S Navy submarines hospitals schools offices and airports to create the ideal environment to support human life 781
