UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
BACHELOR OF OF ARCHITECTURE PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM The five-year undergraduate program seeks applicants curious about the acquisition of of knowledge the creative and scientific aspects of of buildings the the the importance of of of ecological design the the the power of of of learning the the the value of of of hard work and the the transformative opportunities afforded the the next generation of architects committed to changing the world Conceived as a a a a a supportive and inspiring environment for the the beginning student of architecture the the program offers a a a comprehensive curriculum comprised of of architectural design history/ theory and technology courses to to prepare our our graduates to to become future leaders in the profession The School offers an extensive international study abroad program enabling students to spend one full semester in in in Italy India Latin America or China In In addition the School also offers a a a a a semester-long program at Industry City Brooklyn NY enabling undergraduate students to study at at the Center for Architecture Science and Ecology (CASE) a a unique opportunity to pursue research on on next-generation sustainable architecture The Bachelor of of Architecture from Rensselaer is a a a a professional degree fully accredited by the National Architectural Accreditation Board Graduates of the School are distinguished by being creatively independent technologically astute progressive professionally ambitious with a a a a a strong sense of of social responsibility and prepared for career advancement at any level The five-year B Arch Program concludes with a a a a a year-long individually developed and comprehensive final project fin in the context of optional research studio and thematic contexts provided by faculty The first semester of the the final project integrates a a a a a a Research Methods seminar An integrated design research phase continues throughout the the first and the the second semesters The final project is an opportunity to develop a a a a a point of view about architecture and and its place in the world to question conventions habitual responses and and routine approaches to to architectural design and to to investigate issues that the student sees as significant to architecture ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Students are required to complete 8 credits in in Math 12 in in Science and 20 in in Humanities and Social Sciences from an an an extensive list of of course offerings (see Institute core requirements for greater detail) In In addition students complete 12 12 credits credits of of of professional electives electives and 12 12 credits credits of of of free electives electives that may be used to further focus on on a a a a a a concentrated area of study pursue a a a a a a a a minor or or or or dual major or or or or as a a a a a a a a means to to broaden further their exposure to to a a a a a a a a range of disciplines OPEN HOUSE EVENTS
