While working at CERN, Tim Berners-Lee first described the concept of a global system based on ‘hypertext’ which would allow researchers
anywhere to share information. The world’s first website was launched in 1991 and it explained the concept of the world wide web while giving users an introduction to getting started with their own websites.
In the 18th century, long before the national Fire and Rescue Service was established, some fire brigades would be paid for every fire they put out. Unfortunately, this meant some groups realised they would get paid more if they started setting the fires, too.
