The BNTVA would like to thank these two amazing ladies for their commitment and grit to even tackle their gruelling challenges below!
Dartmoor in a Day
Ultra 50km/31.07 miles, Saturday 18 September 2021.
Tracey Morris, Secretary of the NCCF, is raising money for the BNTVA and archives because, as she puts it, “The BNTVA’s archives stand as a memorial to heroes”. In the words of Tracey,
“Why I am raising money for the BNTVA. The BNTVA is a charity close to my heart after having links since 2007/8 when I was writing my Masters’ degree looking at the BNTVA, it’s campaign for justice through the legal system and the burden of proof. As the veterans
and their families endured the Royal Courts of Justice for further research, I had the opportunity to be
able to look through the BNTVA archives stored at the time with Rosenblatt’s Solicitors.
At the end of my Masters’ I was so chuffed in handing the then BNTVA Archivist Doug Hern a bound copy of my Masters’ for the BNTVA archives as an accurate way of maintaining the history of the BNTVA and its campaign for justice through the legal system. Its title, “The Politics of Truth: Justice and Reparations for British Veterans of Britain’s Cold War Nuclear Testing Programme” and is dedicated to my Step-Great Uncle Ken McCormack, Sapper at Operation Hurricane. It would be
good to know that people can still access it as it is very personal to me.
It’s a hell of a lick for me to complete 50km in a day at Dartmoor on 18 September 20201 but nothing compared to what the brave veterans sis during the UK’s Cold War Nuclear Testing Weapons’ programme. They are the bravest
of the brave – heroes and warriors. Any donation will be gratefully received.”

Virgin Virtual London Marathon
Sunday 3rd October, 2021.
Amanda Osmond has been busy training by running along the Severn Bridge near Chepstow to prepare for the London Marathon 2021 which takes place on October 3rd, National Atomic Veterans’ Awareness Day. She says, “I am running the London marathon for the BNTVA because my bestest mate is a descendant and through her I have been learning about the veterans who have become the forgotten. As an RAF veteran myself I wanted to represent a military charity and I approached the BNTVA because I wanted to raise awareness of their campaign to recognise the
men who were subjected to these tests and were never fully aware of what it could do to them and their families. I hope that in running the marathon I can highlight the charity and continue their campaign to recognise all veterans with a medal plus physical and mental support.”
In order to donate towards Amanda’s 26-mile run in just a few weeks, please follow the link at https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com Amanda Osmond. Thank you Amanda for your commitment to Britain’s nuclear test veterans and their families.
If you cannot access the internet but would still like to donate to either Amanda or Tracey’s fundraisers for the BNTVA, then please send a cheque (with Amanda or Tracey written on the back) to BNTVA, The Smithy, Defynnog, Brecon, Powys LD3 8SB or phone 0208 144 3080.
