CAMPAIGN Summer 2021
BNTVA Conference Act of Remembrance
British Nuclear Test Veterans’ Association Act of Remembrance, Telford,
11 August 2021 conducted by the Chaplain, The Very Revd Nicholas Frayling, before the opening of the BNTVA Conference.
Order of Service
Welcome: The Lord be with you,
All: And also with you. Show us your mercy, O Lord,
All: And grant us your salvation.
Opening Prayer
A reading from the New Testament
The Letter of St Paul to the Philippians Chapter 4: 4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always; again, I will say, rejoice.
Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honour- able, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any ex- cellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Keep on doing the things that you have learned and re- ceived and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. This is the Word of the Lord,
All: Thanks be to God.
Reflection
The Act of Remembrance
We remember before God all those, both military and civilian, who have died as a consequence of British nuclear tests in Australia and the Pacific, and all our members who are no longer with us. They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in morning, we will remember them.
All: We will remember them.
The Last Post - Silence – Reveille, Rest eternal grant to them, O Lord,
All: And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace,
All: And rise in glory. Amen.
The Prayers
The response after each prayer is: Lord, in your mercy, All: Hear our prayer
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
