Hereford City is still a large market town at heart, only citified by its splendid cathedral which
is home to a world of important heritage. The Mappa Mundi, Magna Carta and Chained Library reside famously in the building’s stunning chambers.
The city itself is an open book of timbered buildings, Georgian frontages and family businesses. Wednesdays’ market days see High Town buzzing with weekly farmers’ market on Thursdays,
or shop traditionally in the daily Buttermarket under the striking clock tower. Visit Old Market, a collection of national retail outlets and eateries, which sympathetically marries the traditional with the new Hereford.
The Old House Museum is an introduction to its medieval past and the Cider Museum is not only a homage to the county’s renowned cider industry but is host to the International Cider and Perry Competition. A twenty minute walk from Hereford brings you to the Waterworks Museum, a story of drinking water brought to life in a lovely setting by the River Wye.
