The ULTIMATE Herefordshire Guide
Foreword
Herefordshire is one of this country’s hidden counties and its residents are fiercely loyal to the locality, to its rolling countryside, market towns and villages. It remains, even in the twenty first century, emphatically ‘itself’. That is what strikes the visitor immediately, as though he were entering and exploring a lost domain. To the discerning that is its attraction, a place to be nosed through, explored and digested; Its treasures remain hidden and are never flaunted. Visiting it is less a case of is it ready for you, than are you ready for it? Be prepared.
Sir Roy Strong
Sir Roy Strong CH is an English historian, museum curator, prolific author, broadcaster and landscape designer. He has served as director of both the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. His exceptional Herefordshire gardens, The Laskett Gardens, have been a creation of true love for he and his late wife, the designer, Julia Trevelyan Oman and was recently bequeathed to horticultural charity Perennial.
