20th anniversay plants food flowers
Herefordshire’s Great Spring Gardening Event, in aid of the British Red Cross, will return to Newport House, in Almeley, north Herefordshire on 26 April 2017.
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, the
2017 event will take place in the
presence of the Countess of Darnley
HM Lord-Lieutenant of Herefordshire.
A major event on Herefordshire’s horticultural calendar, despite adverse weather, in 2016 it welcomed 1800 visitors, from gardening enthusiasts to British Red Cross supporters and raised almost £35,000. Visitors will have the opportunity to buy plants and flowers from specialist nurseries and enjoy locally-sourced refreshments and the beautiful surroundings of Newport House.
Debra Tritton, British Red Cross president for Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire, said: “We would like to thank David and Jenny Watt, the owners of Newport House, for their generosity and support in allowing us to return
once again.
“We are thrilled to be located in such
a spectacular setting which is usually closed to the public. The grounds are beautifully maintained and visitors will love the stunning woodland and lake, and the walled kitchen garden with its glasshouses. “The money we raise will assist us support people in crisis by funding the British
Red Cross Services including our Support at Home service, Assisted Hospital Discharge, mobility aid loans such as wheelchairs and commodes. We provide Emergency Response services - such as assistance during severe weather and fires. Our service offerings embed us in communities 365 days a year.” What a wonderful way to have a fantastic day out and support an amazing charity.
Come and meet Team ESL there too.
