Mortimer Country
In north-western Herefordshire, lies a land of political history and intrigue, dominated by the rich estates, offices of power and profit bestowed upon the Mortimer Marcher Lords of Wigmore, Harleys of Brampton Bryan and Crofts of Croft Castle. See evidence of the famous Battle of Mortimers Cross, re-enacted every year and discover this land of history and legends when you take the Mortimer Trail.
Hay on Wye
Straddling the Welsh Powys and English Herefordshire divide, Hay, now famous for its annual Literary Festival, has always been a town of books, attracting creatives and independent minds that have kept it vibrant and unique. With magnificent walking in the Brecon Beacons and its own Hay Bluff, popular canoeing along the River Wye and a festival feel all year round, Herefordshire has embraced bustling Hay as a market town cousin into its bosom.
Malvern
With the majestic Malvern Hills dividing Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Malvern holds hands with Herefordshire in its easterly location, attracting walkers in abundance to its incredible viewpoints and hillside town.
The renowned Three Counties Showground attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to its many family and special interest events and shows. Still famous for it mineral water springs and at one time for its spas you can literally drink a little of Malvern in – you’ll need it on those steep climbs up those amazing hills.
