Herefordshire
Whatever your preference for a day trip or holiday, nestled between the Malvern Hills and Brecon Beacons with the River Wye running through the middle, Herefordshire has many a natural attraction to enjoy.
The counties art and culture is enough to keep even the most literary scholars happy and there’s more history in the backyard than you can shake a medieval stick at. Gardens that flank country houses, beautiful villages and cottages are in abundance in Herefordshire. www.visitherefordshire.co.uk
Heart of Wal
The Heart of Wales Line is one of Britain's favourite rural railways. You will travel through spectacular scenery and bustling market towns on an unforgettable journey.
The line travels south from Shrewsbury through rolling hills and towns such as Knighton, Llandrindod Wells and Llanwrtyd Wells before reaching the steel and tinplate town of Llanelli and then Swansea, the hometown of Dylan Thomas. There's something for everyone along the line, with tourist attractions for all. www.heart-of-wales.co.uk
Worc tershire
It is the county that inspired England's greatest composer, Sir Edward Elgar. So what could be more English than this?
The county that is dominated by the rise and fall of the Malvern Hills is also peppered by pretty market towns like Pershore, Droitwich Spa, Tenbury Wells and Evesham. The county town of Worcester is home to a long list of attractions, including a magnificent 11th Century cathedral and an ornate Guildhall designed by a protégé of Sir Christopher Wren. www.visitworcestershire.co.uk
